10 Link Building Agencies for Niche and International Brands

Ten link building agencies checked on their own sites, for SaaS, healthcare, legal and cannabis, plus agencies for France, Spain, Germany and Italy.

link building agencies

A link building agency earns your site links and brand mentions on other websites so that search engines and AI assistants treat you as an authority in your category. The best ones know your industry's publishers by name, and in Europe they pitch editors in the editors' own language.

This list covers both cases. It starts with agencies that specialize in one regulated or technical niche. It then covers agencies for international and multilingual link building in France, Spain, Germany and Italy. I checked every agency on its own website in October 2026 and dropped the ones I could not verify.

Links still count in 2026, but brand mentions now carry more weight for AI search. Ahrefs studied 75,000 brands and found that branded web mentions correlated with visibility in Google's AI Overviews at 0.664, against 0.218 for backlinks (Ahrefs). A good agency in 2026 plans for both signals.

I have hired, replaced and worked alongside outreach specialists for more than 15 years, first in Spain and then in the US. I run these checks before I let anyone build links to a client site.

They show you the target list before outreach starts

Ask for ten sample targets for your site before you sign. Each target should cover your topic, show stable organic traffic over the last twelve months and publish for readers rather than for link buyers. A site that covers SaaS one day and gardening the next fails this check. At Flying Cat, Claude makes a first quality and relevance pass on every target, and I approve each one before outreach.

They refuse private blog networks

A private blog network (PBN) is a group of sites one owner runs to sell links. Google lists buying links for ranking purposes as link spam unless the link carries a sponsored or nofollow tag (Google Search Central). Ask the agency directly whether it sells PBN links. Several agencies that rank for "link building agencies" list PBN links on their own service menus.

They pick mention targets from AI citation data

A strong agency starts with your buying prompts, such as "best LMS for nonprofits". It then pulls the pages AI assistants cite for those prompts from a tracking tool like Scrunch, Profound or Ahrefs Brand Radar. Those roundups and comparison pages become the mention targets. Our guide to off-site visibility shows how to build that source list.

A followed link from a trade publication moves rankings. A brand mention on a cited roundup moves AI visibility. Ask for a monthly report that tracks both, plus your share of AI answers across a fixed prompt set. Our post on how to measure link building covers the ranking side.

Links to a blog post that never converts waste budget. Ask which of your pages the agency would build links to and why. The answer should name product, comparison or decision-stage pages, backed by your conversion data.

Publisher fees are visible

Ask whether placement fees pass through at cost or sit inside the retainer with a markup. Ask who owns the publisher relationships if you end the contract.

Native speakers run outreach in each market

For international campaigns, ask who writes the pitches in French, German, Italian and Spanish. Translated English pitches get ignored by local editors. Ask for three recent placements in each target market.

1. Flying Cat

Best for: B2B SaaS companies that want link building and AI mention placements planned around pages that convert, inside a full SEO and AI search program.

Flying Cat is my founder-led boutique. I lead the strategy on every account and work with freelance specialists who know each client's vertical. We work in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

We sell link building, digital PR and mention placements only inside full-service programs. A standalone link package cannot tell you which pages deserve the links, or whether those pages convert. Inside a program, we split the placement budget between classic editorial links and brand mentions in the sources AI assistants cite. Publisher fees pass through at cost.

Our results come from published case studies.

  • D2L: Outreach shifted from general link building to the third-party roundups that appear as sources in AI answers. D2L went from 12% to 33% of tracked AI answers and from 11th to 7th among learning platforms (D2L case study).
  • Leapsome: The team moved part of its content budget into link building for priority pages. We built around 50 targeted links to those pages. Referring domains grew about 30% in twelve months (Leapsome case study).
  • An enterprise procurement platform: We earned placements on the roundups and industry publications that AI assistants use as sources. ChatGPT answers citing the company's own site rose from 25% to 41% (case study).

Services: link building inside programs, international SEO, GEO and AEO, full-service SEO and content.

Pricing: Every program starts with a $5,000 Strategy Launch that runs three to five weeks. Programs start at $4,000/month. Full-service starts at $7,000/month. Link building inside a program starts at about $3,000/month.

For SaaS-only options, see our list of SaaS link building agencies.

2. Varn Health

Best for: Healthcare, pharma and biotech companies that need off-page work run by people who know medical compliance.

Varn Health is a UK healthcare search agency led by SEO specialist Tom Vaughton, with offices in London and Bath. It lists digital PR for healthcare among its services, alongside technical SEO, medical content, AI search, paid media and training. Its site publishes guidance on building links in healthcare. Link building is not a separate line on its service menu, so expect links to come through digital PR and content.

Clients named on its site: Roche, GSK, Pfizer, Stryker, Kyowa Kirin and Wiley. Its site reports a Gold at the PM Society Digital Awards 2024 for work with Roche.

Best for: Law firms that want link building as part of a broader legal marketing retainer.

The site claims more than 20 years of legal marketing experience and shows a Jacksonville, Florida business listing.

Pricing: Its small law firm marketing plan starts at $999/month. Other services are quoted on request.

Best for: CBD and cannabis businesses that want per-link pricing on cannabis-friendly publications.

Cannabis Link Building is a San Marcos, California agency that works only with cannabis, CBD, vape and kratom businesses. Its services are guest posting, link insertions, broken link building, outreach and CBD content writing. The site claims more than 20 specialists and more than 200 cannabis-related projects. Its FAQ states that it vets each site for quality and relevance.

Pricing: Per link by Domain Rating, from $150 for DR 20+ to $500 for DR 60+, each with a 750-word article and a two-week turnaround.

Buyers in Europe search for this in their own language, with queries like "agence linkbuilding" in France and "agencia de link building internacional" in Spain. European link building runs on different rules from US link building, so I give it its own section.

Each market has its own publishers, trade press and AI answer sources. A link from a US SaaS blog does little for a German page competing in google.de. Native speakers need to pitch local editors in their language, with local examples and local data.

French SEOs call link building "netlinking". In France, much of it runs through paid marketplaces of publisher sites. In Germany, buyers often call it "Linkaufbau".

Links also need a page worth linking to. At ActiveCampaign, we localized the best English pages and wrote about twenty new bottom- and mid-funnel pages per language each month. The French, Italian, German and Spanish sites gained 83,000+ more non-branded clicks and 4.1M+ more impressions in eight months (ActiveCampaign case study).

Some markets reward content before links. At an ecommerce marketing platform, company policy ruled out link building in France. Native writers rebuilt the French site around local search habits, retail calendars and regulations instead. The client tripled its top-3 rankings in France within six months, with no link building at all (France case study). I tell international clients to fix localized pages and hreflang first, then buy links for the pages that already rank on page two. Our international SEO strategy guide covers that order.

The agency uses Link-Finder, a tool built by its co-founder that compares offers across more than 30 marketplaces. It writes the articles that carry the links. Its list of link types also includes private networks and PBNs built for clients, so confirm in writing which link types your budget will buy.

Only four agencies on this list publish prices.

Agency Published price
Flying Cat Link building inside programs from about $3,000/month. Programs from $4,000/month after a $5,000 Strategy Launch
The Legal Marketing Company Small law firm marketing plan from $999/month, covering more than link building

For a market benchmark, BuzzStream surveyed about 70 digital PR agencies and freelancers in 2025. The average cost per link was $597. Guest posts averaged about $150 per link, while large data-led campaigns averaged about $800. The average monthly retainer was $5,458 (BuzzStream).

Per-link pricing makes sense for a small site that needs a few placements. A retainer makes sense when links and mentions have to support a content plan across several pages or markets. For international work, budget per market, since each one needs its own publishers and its own native outreach.

AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Mode build answers from pages they retrieve. Brands named on those pages get recommended more often. That makes a mention on a cited roundup worth more for AI visibility than a link on a page no assistant reads.

Your own lists help too. In my Search Spot research across five B2B SaaS clients and 93,968 AI answers, vendors whose own listicle was cited were named in 45.4% of answers, against 16.3% when it was not (The Search Spot). That result is an association, so treat it as a reason to publish your own comparison pages alongside earned coverage.

The same logic applies abroad. AI assistants answering in French or German cite French and German sources. An agency that only places links on English sites will not move your visibility in those answers.

Published per-link prices on this list run from $150 to $500. BuzzStream's 2025 survey put the average cost per link at $597 and the average monthly retainer at $5,458 (BuzzStream). At Flying Cat, link building inside a program starts at about $3,000/month.

Link building still works for rankings. Relevant links from sites with stable traffic still help pages climb in Google. For AI search, brand mentions on the pages assistants cite correlate more strongly with visibility than raw backlink counts (Ahrefs). A 2026 plan budgets for both.

International link building earns links and mentions for each language version of your site from publishers in that market. It needs native-language pitches, local publisher lists and localized pages to link to. In France, the same work is called netlinking.

Ask for sample targets before you sign and confirm the agency refuses PBN links. Check that it reports links and AI mentions separately and points links at pages that convert. For Europe, confirm that native speakers run outreach in each market. If you want link building tied to a full SEO and AI search program, book a call with Flying Cat.
